About the Award
The award recognises a full-time journalism faculty member who has consistently created an environment of teaching excellence and made sustained contributions to improving student learning.
The nominee should primarily teach journalism courses that train students to gather, assess, create and present news, information and commentary through print and electronic media. Nominees may come from accredited or non-accredited institutions.

Who Is Eligible?
The nominee must be:
A full-time faculty member
Primarily engaged in teaching journalism courses
An educator with a sustained record of improving student learning
Teaching students to produce news, information and commentary through print or electronic media
Faculty members from both accredited and non-accredited schools may be nominated.
Selection Criteria
The judges will consider:
Continuing engagement with the journalism industry
Use of experiential learning and real-world learning opportunities
Innovative teaching practices
Contribution to curriculum development
Mentoring and advising students
Mentoring other faculty members in teaching
Leadership in educational activities within the department, institution or academic community
Who Can Submit the Nomination?
The nomination must be submitted by the head of the nominee’s academic unit or programme.
Only one nominee from each school is permitted. The institution may decide its own internal selection procedure.
Required Documents
The nomination should contain:
A two-page nomination letter written by the unit head
Specific examples demonstrating the nominee’s achievements according to the award criteria
The nominee’s complete curriculum vitae
All documents must be combined into one PDF file.

15 October 2026 at 5:00 PM Eastern Time.
Important Note
This is a nomination-based award. Individual faculty members should not submit themselves directly unless their academic unit head formally submits the nomination.

How to apply
