The Centre for Cultural Resources and Training — CCRT — has released the official advertisement, application forms and instructions for the Scheme for Award of Senior/Junior Fellowships to Outstanding Persons in the Fields of Culture, Batch Year 2026–27.
The fellowships are meant for research-oriented projects in the field of culture. Both academic research and performance-related research are encouraged. The official instructions clarify that the fellowship is a project-based award and is not intended as a monthly salary, pension, training programme, workshop, seminar, memoir writing or fiction-writing support.
This opportunity may be useful for researchers, artists, cultural practitioners, heritage scholars, performing arts practitioners, visual arts researchers, literary researchers and candidates working on culture-related research projects.
Fellowship details
Senior Fellowship
Number of fellowships: 200
Fellowship value: ₹20,000 per month
Age group: Above 40 years
Age eligibility: Applicants born on or before 01 April 1986
Duration: Maximum two years

Junior Fellowship
Number of fellowships: 200
Fellowship value: ₹10,000 per month
Age group: 25–40 years
Age eligibility: Applicants born between 01 April 1986 and 31 March 2001, both days inclusive
Duration: Maximum two years

Important eligibility note
For applicants applying under “New Areas” and related sub-fields such as Indology, Epigraphy, Sociology of Culture, Cultural Economics, Structural and Engineering Aspects of Monuments, Numismatics, Scientific and Technical Aspects of Conservation, Management Aspects of Art and Heritage, and studies relating to application of science and technology in culture and creativity, graduation is the minimum educational qualification.

Applicants can write the project synopsis in English or Hindi. For the field of Literature, the project synopsis may be submitted in the relevant regional language.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview / personal talk by the Expert Committee. Selected fellows will have to submit six-monthly progress reports and complete the project within two years.
