The Kari Howard Fund for Narrative Journalism supports powerful, human-centred narrative journalism projects. The fund is offered by the International Women’s Media Foundation in memory of Kari Howard, a respected narrative editor who encouraged deeply reported storytelling.

This opportunity is suitable for journalists interested in longform journalism, feature writing, literary journalism, social issue reporting and human-interest storytelling. Applicants may be freelance or staff journalists. The final story should be published in English.

Eligibility includes women and nonbinary journalists with at least three years of professional journalism experience. Applicants should show a strong story proposal, reporting plan and evidence of publication interest or previous publication experience.
