Reporting to the Planning Division within the Department of Communications and Knowledge Management, the Associate Communications Officer will coordinate communications planning and media outreach for ADB and its client departments. Key duties include:
Communications planning – support the planning and prioritization of communications outputs for various departments, thematic areas and campaigns.
Media relations – act as a primary contact for international media, build relationships with journalists, maintain media databases and guide resident-mission communications officers.
Crisis and issues management – monitor reputational risks, assist with crisis communications by drafting holding statements and Q&As, and provide on‑call support during incidents.
Annual meetings & events – help plan communications activities for ADB’s Annual Meeting and other institutional events.
Qualifications & benefits – Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, international relations or a related field and have at least five years of experience in journalism, media relations or strategic communications. Understanding of strategic communications planning and proficiency in media relations is essential, along with excellent writing and editing skills and strong teamwork.
