The Department of Visual Arts at Ashoka University is inviting applications for the position of Research Assistant for the academic year 2026–27. This is a contractual position based at Ashoka University, Sonipat, Haryana.

The role is suitable for early-career candidates interested in visual arts, curation, archiving, digital documentation, academic project coordination, communication and social media. The selected candidate will support the development of a Digital Visual Arts Archive and Resource Centre, including cataloguing, digitising, indexing and making archival materials accessible.

The role also includes assisting faculty and students, documenting events and exhibitions, creating newsletters and posters, managing departmental social media accounts, supporting outreach activities and helping strengthen the research profile of the department.

Eligibility

Bachelor of Fine Arts / BFA or BA in Humanities.

Strong grounding in Visual Arts, History, Literature or related fields.

Interest in visual culture, archival practices and academic project coordination.

Desirable qualifications

MFA / MVA / MA in Visual Arts, Visual Culture, Art History, Arts and Aesthetics, Museum Studies, Literature or History.

Prior archiving experience preferred.

Skills required

Reading and writing skills, independent and collaborative working ability, familiarity with tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, and experience in handling social media accounts such as Instagram.
