Mediální studia / Media Studies invites scholarly audio/visual essays for its first issue of 2027.
What to submit
A completed essay and an accompanying contextualising statement are required for peer review. This is not an abstract-only call. Video, film, audiovisual and sound-only essays are welcome.
Academic focus
Contributions should present a clear, rigorous argument with attention to theory and method. Communication-related themes are particularly welcome. A recorded lecture alone does not meet the call’s emphasis on creative use of the medium.
Language and access
Essays may use any language, with English-friendly measures where needed. The journal is diamond open access and does not charge publication fees.
Deadline
15 September 2026. Submit early and check the detailed technical instructions.
Preparing the package
Check playback, captions, sound levels and source credits. Use the contextualising statement to explain the research contribution and why the chosen medium is necessary.
