The Online News Association has released the finalist list for the 2026 Online Journalism Awards.
The selected work spans general excellence, public service, breaking news, digital video, audio storytelling, newsletters, science, social justice, technology reporting, visual storytelling, investigative data journalism, artificial intelligence and student journalism.
Finalist organisations include major international outlets as well as medium, small and independent newsrooms. The list offers journalism students and professionals a useful snapshot of current approaches to investigations, multimedia production, audience engagement, data work and AI-assisted innovation.
Finalists announced: 28 August 2026
First winner announcement: 3 September 2026 through a virtual event
Remaining awards: 1 October 2026 in New York City
