The XXI International Conference on Minority Languages (ICML 2027) is accepting proposals for its conference in Bozen/Bolzano/Bulsan, South Tyrol, Italy, from 22 to 26 June 2027.

The call includes themes directly relevant to media and communication researchers:

  • Media and minority languages
  • Minority languages in the age of AI and new technologies
  • Linguistic vitality
  • Education in and for minority languages
  • Language policy, autonomy and minority rights
  • Social and linguistic justice
  • Contested languages

Submission formats include individual papers, pre-constituted panels, posters and practitioner-experience dialogues. The deadline is 7 September 2026 at 23:59 CEST, with decisions expected in early November 2026.

The conference is organised by Eurac Research through its Center for Autonomy Experience, Institute for Minority Rights and Institute for Applied Linguistics.
