The Pulitzer Center invites proposals for its Global South Civil Society Microgrants. These grants support civic-engagement projects that use existing Pulitzer Center-supported journalism to improve public understanding of climate and environmental challenges.
Key themes: rainforests and Indigenous communities; ocean health and marine governance; climate, labour, livelihoods, gender and community resilience.
Eligible applicants include grassroots organisations, community educators, civil-society organisations and coalitions, youth movements and other groups working across journalism, civic rights and active citizenship.
Geographic note: The official call particularly highlights Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia. Applicants from India or other regions should confirm geographic and organisational eligibility directly with the organiser before applying.
Important: This is a civil-society/community-engagement grant that must use at least one existing Pulitzer Center-supported journalism project; it is not a reporting grant.
Application deadline: 6 September 2026.
Implementation: approximately October 2026–March 2027.
